About the role
Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Facility Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the facility-wide compliance to Southco Quality Management System. The Quality Manager ensures that the facility maintains documented procedures and instructions to satisfy ISO/TS/AS requirements. This individual coordinates timely and accurate responses to customer complaints by interacting with the appropriate individuals within customer service, production, engineering and supply chain areas.
Compensation: $120,000-$140,000
What you will be doing
Job Accountabilities:
- Manage and direct in-process Quality improvement initiatives within the facility to achieve quality goals.
- Ensure that all ISO 9000, TS16949, IATF and AS9100 requirements are being met and has been audited to these standards, serves as management representative for facility quality management system compliance, and ensures that facility-wide corrective action reports are quickly resolved.
- Required quarterly business trips to sister division in Chihuahua, Mexico to develop and maintain strong working relationships, fostering open communication and collaboration to achieve shared goals. Other international travel as needed.
- Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred. Candidates who are fluent in Spanish will be given strong consideration.
- Ability to influence and implement quality training throughout the facility as well as challenging the process.
- Coordinate the facility’s SPC (statistical process/quality control) program and assist all areas in application of statistical methods.
- Prepare for and participate in all customer visits and audits. Ensure all customer required surveys are completed on a timely basis.
- Manage the customer complaint system including problem resolution/correction/prevention with necessary response activities. This activity includes customer returned products.
- Direct efforts for the facility calibration program including calibration, recall, gage prints, MSA outside services, etc.
- Reduce costs of nonconformance, including establishing reduction plans.
- Interface with manufacturing and engineering to effectively resolve internal and/or external quality problems in corrective, preventive, or continuous improvement manner. Participates in monthly management scorecard reviews and provides data to senior management on quality metrics.
- Supervise QA exempt and non-exempt staff and aid in their development.
- Manage within the quality department’s budget parameters
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering (certification from ASQC or equal) or equivalent education or experience.
- Five years experience as a manager or supervisor in a metal manufacturing environment, leading at team of at least 10 employees.
- Experience working with sister divisions within a larger organization is highly preferred.
- Experience with relevant metal manufacturing processes eg: Cold Forming, Cold Heading, Stamping, Die Casting, Powder Coating.
- Thorough knowledge of ISO, TS and AS9100 requirements.
- Automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
- SAP experience strongly preferred.
- CQM and CQE certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical abilities.
- Ability to interact and work well with others as a team.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and analysis procedures such as FMEA, DOE, QFD, and SPC.
- Experienced in implementation and administration or Quality Management systems.
- Excellent communication, development and leadership skills.
