About the role
The Sr. Inside Sales Representative identifies and qualifies new business opportunities, maximizing sales growth potential while partnering with Southco's business development team (Customer Service, Account Managers, Marketing) to secure new business. The role also provides product design assistance to the sales and service teams, works cross-functionally in support of company-wide initiatives, and helps the Inside Sales Manager develop the strategy, processes, and policies for the Inside Sales organization.
What you will be doing
- Manage all new business leads to identify and target new opportunities, and follow up on customer inquiries related to product design
- Qualify opportunities by understanding customer applications, product usage, market strategy, and production requirements
- Engage customers throughout the product design cycle with technical and commercial support
- Partner with the Southco business development team to manage new business opportunities, including coordinating onsite customer visits and product seminars
- Provide product design assistance to internal and external customers, including Customer Service Reps, prospective customers, and Authorized Distributor personnel
- Lead product, process, and application training for Customer Service and other internal teams, including onboarding for new Inside Sales Representatives
- Document all customer-facing activity in Salesforce.com, including meetings, calls, quotes, and sample requests, and prepare periodic forecast updates
- Use Southco's SAP system to support customer inquiries related to product pricing and procurement
How you will be making an impact
- Use gap analysis and order pattern recognition tools to identify order trend variances and proactively engage customers to prevent lost business
- Identify trends in customer and market activity and provide feedback and recommendations to Product and Industry Management for product development and market approach
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities for Inside Sales processes and systems, partnering with sales and system support teams to develop and lead action plans to completion
- Support the Inside Sales Manager in the strategic development of the Inside Sales organization
About you
- Bachelor's degree required (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a technical sales role
- Computer literate with excellent communication and telephone skills
- High energy, self-starter with strong technical aptitude
- Goal-oriented, ambitious, and highly motivated; reliable and resilient, with the ability to handle rejection
- Team- and people-oriented relationship builder; enthusiastic, confident, mature, curious, and strategically minded with strong accountability
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple tasks
- Language requirements vary by region (e.g., English required in North America, with Spanish/French-Canadian preferred; English and Portuguese required in South America)
