About the role
As the North America EDI Analyst, you'll own and support Southco's Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) program across the region. In this customer-facing role, you'll be the go-to contact for customers on all things EDI, from troubleshooting transaction issues and clarifying technical requirements to supporting new implementations and eliminating recurring problems.
You'll dig into EDI data, transactions and processes to find errors, get to root causes, and improve accuracy, stability, automation and efficiency. Working closely with Customer Service, IT, Supply Chain, internal EDI teams and customers, you'll define requirements, coordinate system and mapping changes, and confirm that fixes really work. While EDI/IT teams implement technical changes, you'll own each issue through to resolution as the business- and customer-facing subject matter expert.
Your top priority, and the key measure of success in this role, will be a sustained, measurable reduction in failed and errored EDI transactions across North America. You'll work with a high degree of autonomy, with guidance focused on broad objectives, and partner closely with our Sr. EDI Specialist.
What you will be doing
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science or a related field (required); an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 3–5 years of experience supporting EDI, ERP business processes, Customer Service, Order Management, Supply Chain or related functions, with a proven ability to troubleshoot EDI/IDoc transactions and resolve process issues.
- Proficiency in SAP, including IDoc processing and order management, plus Microsoft Office (advanced Excel preferred), Salesforce and other business reporting tools.
- Experience with EDI standards, EDI translators, managed service providers and customer onboarding implementations (preferred).
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including the ability to create training materials, document business processes and train associates.
How you will be making an impact
- Reduce EDI failures across the region: Own the reduction of failed and errored EDI transactions. Proactively uncover root causes of processing errors and exceptions, develop corrective actions, controls and preventative best practices, and partner with EDI, IT, Customer Service and Supply Chain teams to put lasting solutions in place.
- Deliver successful customer implementations: Interpret customer EDI specifications and requirements, and support the development, testing and modification of inbound and outbound EDI maps with EDI/IT teams. Serve as the liaison between Supply Chain, Strategic Business Units, Customer Service, IT, EDI teams and customers to keep implementations on track.
- Be a trusted partner to customers: Work directly with customers to resolve failed transactions, clarify technical requirements and onboard new EDI users, building strong relationships while navigating each customer's unique requirements and communication style.
- Drive automation: Review high-volume manual and EDI-eligible accounts and build targeted plans to migrate them to automated data entry, in line with annual scorecard targets.
- Eliminate IDoc failures: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot and analyze IDoc and EDI processing issues, identify needed system, mapping, master data or process changes, and confirm fixes address the underlying cause.
- Support and upskill the team: Provide technical support and process expertise to Customer Service Representatives handling strategic, high-value accounts, and maintain troubleshooting guides and preventative practices that strengthen the team's EDI capabilities.
- Lead process improvement: Drive key EDI improvement initiatives across current and future business systems. Define business requirements, work with EDI and IT teams to design and test changes, report insights to management, and shape data policies, master data standards and SAP data rules.
- Support a global business: Partner with EDI counterparts in other regions to ensure consistent customer coverage and aligned EDI practices, processes and standards worldwide.
About you
- A proactive problem solver: You take initiative, dig into root causes, and don't stop until an issue is fully resolved.
- Results-driven: You're motivated by measurable outcomes and hold yourself accountable for hitting targets.
- Analytical and detail-oriented: You bring strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, and you stay accurate while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused: You're committed to exceptional service and enjoy translating customer needs into practical business and technical solutions.
- A collaborative relationship builder: You work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers, and communicate complex technical topics clearly.
