About the role
The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for driving growth and innovation across an existing broad product portfolio, with a focus on identifying unmet market needs and optimizing the return on the current portfolio of products.
The Product Marketing Manager leverages strong customer and market connectivity to establish the product vision and drive the product promotion strategy while ensuring that sales, product management, and operational strategies are aligned to generate profitable product line growth. The product marketing manager works directly with the product managers to optimize the existing product portfolio as part of a comprehensive product roadmap.
What you will be doing
- Product portfolio strategy: Responsible for development of the product promotion strategy for a broad portfolio of products. Develops and maintains detailed product road maps for all assigned products. Performs extensive voice of the customer exercises to assess market needs not only for assigned products, but for adjacent products in any target market. Combines feedback from voice of the customer activities with input from Southco’s sales teams to identify new products to serve global customer needs and maintain competitive leadership. Provides direction to the regional teams responsible for the development of modified or customized product to balance immediate customer needs with the optimization of product platform opportunities. Identify market pricing required for product success within each region, market, and channel.
- Competitive Intelligence: Spearhead competitive intelligence efforts by fostering acute awareness of competitor activities. Responsibilities include planning, consolidating, and supervising intelligence gathering; initiating product performance benchmarking; analyzing competitive market and channel strategies; and monitoring and assessing new competitive threats.
- Lead the assessment and rollout of OEM-driven products to expand product lines. Develop and approve specifications for new product development of line extensions and industry specific products. Gather and analyze customer and market feedback, both directly and through sales/marketing teams, to create marketing specifications and contribute to regional business plans. Define, develop, and/or approve training materials and sales tools (catalogs, print assets, demo panels, web content) for new products. Provide guidance to marketing communications and e-commerce teams.
- Drive Strategic Alignment: Work collaboratively with the executive and regional leadership teams (Managing Directors, Commercial Directors, Business Development Management, and Senior Operations Management) to drive an sales and manufacturing alignment with the product strategy, ensuring that functional, regional, and operational goals are aligned to optimize Southco’s resource deployment and long-term growth and profitability
- New product portfolio monitoring & regulation: Monitor and assess the performance of newly launched products including service level analysis, quality and profitability analysis. Advise Product Management on pricing for new products, including regional and channel specific pricing, consistent with strategic business objectives and competitive market positioning. Define corrective actions where appropriate to ensure optimization of quality, delivery, cost, and margin
About you
- Bachelor degree in Product Marketing with some technical background
- Minimum five years of experience in product marketing, sales, or engineering.
- Solid leadership and problem solving capabilities. Ability to lead across functional and geographic boundaries. Strong communication skills and influence capabilities.
- Ability to perform complex business analysis
