About the role

The Project Engineer 1 (PE1) is responsible for success of New Product Development Projects from CPB to the final PRO-04 phase.  This is achieved by directing the activities of a development team towards the completion of the project’s product development and launch goals.  The PE1 must be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.  The PE1’s primary efforts are to provide daily support of the development teams by providing input and leadership to the team members’ efforts in design, manufacturing, marketing, and finance.  The successful PE1 must be able to lead multi-disciplinary product teams of anywhere from 2 to 10 associates, depending on the scope of the individual projects.  The PE1 is the technical communicator between Southco and the customer

What you will be doing

  1. Lead Product Development Teams:  (Teams consist of all or some of the following: design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, supply chain, manufacturing operations, product evaluation, sales, and marketing.).  PE1 cultivates an team environment of respect and trust among team members.  PE1 provides leadership to project team members
  2. Adherence to PRO-04:  All PRO-04 tasks are completed and documented on the project website.  PE1 ensures that team members use project website for all project documentation.  Exceptions must be approved by an engineering manager.
  3. Project Planning: Technical requirements, resource requirements:  Engineering Manager ensures that CPB and supporting scope definition documents are clearly defined for the PE1.  PE1 executes the project according to these documents.  PE1 communicates these requirements to the project team.  PE1 documents and communicates any changes to the CPB or scope definition documentation
  4. Schedule Management:  PE1 communicates the project work and timing to the team using the PRO-04 task list and project milestone dates.
  5. Business Development:  PE1  tracks project costs and can complete project financial justifications with assistance from a PL3 or engineering manager

About you

  1. Certification: CAPM preferred.
  2. 0 - 3 years experience.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  5. Must be analytical and self-motivated.
